    Patrick’s Birthday Cake

So today is Patrick’s 29th birthday! Happy Birthday Patrick! We are celebrating Patrick’s birthday this week. I didn’t plan anything crazy like I did last year. Most of you who read regularly remember that I took him up to Boston for a surprise birthday weekend. We spend the weekend going around the city to museums, art galleries and really delicious restaurants. This year we aren’t doing anything like that. We have a had a lot going on in the past couple weeks, you know getting engaged and all. My family and I are taking him out to dinner this weekend to one of our favorite restaurants J. Gilberts. By far,…

    Lemon Bourbon Cake Doughnuts

I saw this recipe over at Chasing Delicious and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it. Have you ever been over to Chasing Delicious??           It is always SO much fun and Russell is always doing such creative things. I love that name btdubs. If I ever have a boy, that will be a major contention for his name haha Anyways, I knew I had to try this and let me tell you they were a hit! Unfortunately, I couldn’t partake in them because it is still Lent and I am pretty sure that a doughnut counts as a sweet. Right? I froze some so…

    Vanilla Cupcakes

Another year has come and gone. Strange how fast time goes isn’t it? I cannot believe that tomorrow I am turning 28. 28! I don’t feel twenty.eight. OK…maybe sometimes I feel 28. My body definitely feels different from now then it did when I was 18 that is for sure. It is harder to get out of bed, not like wake up early. I get up at 5am almost every day. But like STEP out of bed ::CRACCCKKKK:: I sound like I am about 60 years old, however the hip cracking thing deeply stems from being a dancer. Seriously…ask a dancer about cracking their hips. Guarantee they love it haha.…

Pumpkin Pie Cake with Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting

OK, so first off this day has been like the day from absolute hell. GAH! Work is driving me absolutely bonkers. I feel like I keep spinning my tires and doing all this work for people and then I get trampled on. Ever have those weeks? Can’t seem to get anything done, or do anything the way people want to see it. I am one of those people that NEVER half asses anything. I don’t have the ability to. It must be in my blood or something, because I will literally not be able to sleep at night if I don’t do something to my full ability. Anyways, I am…

    Apple Upside Down Cake

I did it!! I completed my first race! WOOO!! The race I participated in was called the Tavern Trot and all the proceeds went to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, which I just love. Anything I can do to help out kids with cancer, or anyone with cancer I am all about it. It was actually a 3.5 mile race. I thought it was a 5k, but apparently it was a little farther. So here were my results: Ran 3.5 miles in 33:06 (9:28 pace) 16th out of 81 in my age group 66th out of 409 for females I am so proud of myself!!!!! This is the one time that I…

    C is for Chocolate Cake?

Is anyone else amazed that we are almost half way through January?? I am! I From October to present I feel like the duration of time has been about 2 weeks. I am flabbergasted at how fast the days are going! Today is one of my best friends birthday’s. We are exactly one week apart! (that’s right I have a birthday coming up haha). Lots of January babies in my family. She is such an amazing person and I absolutely love her to death! I have known Miss Alana (now Mrs.) since I was about 5 years old. We went to elementary school together and part of middle school as…

    Carrot Cake Cupcakes

Weekends go by too fast. It is just a fact of life. Every time the weekend comes I am so ecstatic and then it seems in the blink of an eye it is gone and I am stuck behind my desk at work again. This weekend WAS a lot of fun though which I am sure is why it seemed to go even faster than I wanted it to. I was able to meet up with one of my old friends John in Mystic CT. Not only did I get to see a lot of history at the Mystic Seaport but I also got to catch up with one of…

    Pumpkin Coffee Cake

Ever have one of those recipes that has been used and used and used until it looks like this (see left)?? My Mom has this book she has been using since she was younger to make breads, muffins, cakes…all sorts of goodies that I enjoyed when I was growing up. It was called the “Quick Breads Cookbook” © 1975. How great is that? I was lucky enough this past weekend to have her share this book with me and let me use one of the recipes out of it to create a coffee cake that is just perfect for Fall. The first day of Fall was last week and I…

    Rainbow Sprinkle Donuts

I did it!! People I did it! Finally, I have been talking for months and months to so many of you about how I wanted to make donuts and I finally did it! Thank goodness I made them before the hurricane came through my town though. We have been without power now for 3 days. Which means, no cooking and no showering :-(. My sweet lion was nice enough to let me come over and get a shower in yesterday…thank goodness for that! This is what it looked like on either end of the street I live on…trees are down everywhere in the Northeast. From the sounds of it, the…
