    Pan-Seared Scallops with Cauliflower “Mash”

Do you like home renovation projects? Patrick and I are constantly working on our house. There is a sense of satisfaction when you finish and it is something you have worked on and it actually looks nice! Granted my parents have been nice enough to show us the ropes on many, many, MANY home improvement tricks. I have watched my parents flip houses for years and have been a part of many of them. So I suppose it is only natural that I am wanting to do the same thing with my own. I am pretty sure Patrick thinks I am nuts, but he seems to be enjoying the process…

Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in NYC

Are you ready for this post my fellow foodies? I was invited to attend the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party presented by Southern Living, Cooking Light, MyRecipes and RealSimple. It took place in NYC on June 8th & 9th in Madison Square Park. It was the 11th annual block party and it was so much fun! There were cooking classes, live performances, vendor tents with tools and foods, live demonstrations of cooking and cocktail ideas, and best of all BBQ all day long! I honestly had never heard of this event before, but I am so glad I have now. It is only about 2 hours from where I live…

Hey! Did you hear?? I have a new fridge! In my kitchen, that also has a new floor… Riiiiiiight <——– there! Isn’t it pretty?! Isn’t it like SO much better than that *ahem* piece of shit, I meaaaaaan, old fridge that was there? Patrick and I also got the new dishwasher and gas range…GAS RANGE PEOPLE! Ahh yes the good things in life. However, they aren’t quite installed yet, but they will be. Am I the only foodie that gets super excited when new kitchen items show up? I am seriously like a kid in a candy store when it comes to kitchen utensils, appliances, tools etc. You know like…

Well hello! How are you all on this Wednesday morning? I am tiiirrreeedddd. Bikram kicked my butt and then I got up before 5am to do my morning work out, so I am draggin’ today. There was some serious storm moving through last night though, some tree branches and things were down on the raods this morning on the commute into work. My prayers are with the family and friends of those in the Midwest that had the storms come through and caused significant damage. Those big storms are so unexpected most of the time and cause so much damage, it is really scary. Stay safe everyone! In other brighter…

Well hello! I am back from Portugal! I have been MIA this past week, which I do apologize for. Portugal was very much different than I thought it would be. It was a bit rainy and a tad bit chilly for my taste, but we did go at a bad time of year. Can’t really complain too much since the trip was pretty inexpensive since Patrick had to work over there. Since Patrick was working, during the days I spent most of my time wandering around the streets of Setubal, drinking tons of “café”, which is not coffee it is espresso. Honestly, it was my favorite part of the trip.…

    Corn Crab Cakes

Do you have a go to meal whenever you go out to a certain restaurant? I don’t mean like going to the SAME restaurant, but let’s say you go to a burger joint…is there always one burger you kind of look for? Or an Italian place where you always look for a certain kind of pasta? This is me when I go to a seafood place… “Do they have crab cakes?” This is like my go to thing that I just have to have every time I set foot in a place that makes crab cakes. To tell you the truth, crab cakes were one of my first seafood experiences.…

Notice anything different about my blog? No, not the design. Nope, not a new post. Look a little higher, little higher, BAM! This website is now www.ravienomnoms.com. No more wordpress.com :-). Just thought you all might like to know. It should redirect you automatically, but just in case…now you know 😉 Confession time… OK, I admit it, I am a bit obsessed with Cooking Light. I anxiously wait to get them in the mail every month and then I thumb through them and mark just about every single page as a “must try” recipe. There could be worse things right? That is what I always say when Patrick gives me…

Ok, so again this being grown up thing? When did this happen? The getting up and going to work thing is overrated. Yea yea, money is nice…but man, if I could just get an extra hour of sleep everyday that would be saaawweeet! To add the grownupness…Patrick and I stumbled across a house that we like and decided to go look at it. One of those things that we drive by it every day to work and decided “what the heck” why not go and check it out just for fun? Talk about your all time backfires. Guess who the dumb girl is that really likes this house is even…

Hello everyone…how are you this week? This week has been kinda gone fast for me so far. For a few reasons really… Patrick and I have been working to get him moved out of his apartment because we are moving in together :-), and when I say working, I mean…like we have barely done anything haha. He has to be out of his apartment by the 9th of February so we really need to get our a$$es in gear. We have done SOME, but not nearly as much as we need to. I am hoping this weekend that we can REALLLLLLY get to work and get some things moved. Wish…

Finally!! We got some snow! All of your haters out there that don’t like the snow, I am very sorry, but I am SO happy about it. We haven’t gotten a lick of snow since that terrible storm the Northeast had in October. I mean really, I move to the Northeast and I get NO SNOW??! Grrr… Very happy to see the white dusting on the ground this AM when I got out of bed at 5:45am. 🙂 Remember when you were younger and how you used to jump out of bed to check at your window to see if you just might have a snowday? That is how I…

However, I will have some really great things for you next week. I will be attending a Halloween themed Chili Cook-Off which I am SUPER excited for. I love dressing up for Halloween I think it is a blast 😀 Btdubs, I got SNOW last night. Yes, snow. At my house. On the ground. Snow. They are predicting 8-10″ tomorrow. It is October! I am here to inform you that Kristin’s wedding was a blast! She was just the prettiest bride and everything seemed to go so very smoothly for her. I am so happy for her! 😀 Patrick and I had a great time! We definitely enjoyed all the food and danced the entire night which is always a good time. I promised that I would show a picture of my dress so here it is! I personally think the best part of my outfit was my hair…I went to get it done at my salon for the first time for a wedding. I NEVER do that, don’t ask why because I…
