Turkey Burgers

I would just like to point out to all of you that there are 12 days until it is Christmas…ah! I know! Is it just me or does it feel like it was just Halloween? I mean don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas! I love winter and all that jazz, but it just seems to be going so fast. I think it feels like it isn’t winter time yet is because we have been having such warm weather here in CT. I mean today it is 49 degrees with rain! What the hell mother nature?! I am ready for snow and cold and sweaters and mittens. Can I plllleeeaaasseeee have snow for Christmas??? With jingle bells on top? 😉

Ever had a turkey burger?

Sidebar: “Whoa, way to completely switch gears there, Raven”

…sorry, I am a BIT random

End Sidebar.

Many people I know are always so skeptical of turkey burgers because they think they will be dry. I am here to tell you that you CAN make a turkey burger that is moist and juicy and delicious and I will prove it to you! Sometimes I feel like people are so scared to try something new because of things they have heard about them. I am not one of those people. I will try just about anything no matter what I have heard. ACTUALLY, I am one of those people that will try something and not like it and then come back a year or two later and try it again to see if maybe my tastes buds change their mind…

Don’t be scared of turkey burgers my fellow beef burger eaters…I promise you might even like them just as much as a regular burger 😉

Ingredients for Turkey Burger:

  • ground turkey
  • fresh garlic
  • onion, chopped
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • bread crumbs
  • salt
  • pepper
  • red pepper flake

*now, I didn’t put measurements on here because it is something you just need to eye ball and also it has to deal with preferences, some people might like more or less of each item. Feel free to play with the ingredients*

In a medium bowl put your ground turkey, salt, pepper, red pepper flake, garlic, and onion.

Use your hands to combine the ingredients together. I know, I know….ewwww raw meat. Believe me, I used to have a real problem touching (and still have a real problem with raw chicken) raw meat. Just one of those things you have to conquer haha.

Add in your Worcestershire and breadcrumbs and form into patties.

Look how gorgeous that gobble burger is! So many yummy flavors…

Now, I normally put just a tad of olive oil in my pan when I cook these because turkey has a MUCH lower fat content than normal ground sirloin or ground chuck. When I say a tad, I mean a TAD. I put about a teaspoon into the pan and then smear it all around the edges and bottom just so there is a coating. Heat your pan on medium-high heat. Place turkey patties into hot pan.

I normally cook my burgers 5 minutes each side. So just a rule of thumb…about 8-10 minutes total cook time.

Now, will you please take a look at how juicy that burger is?? Can you see the yummy juices coming from it? This is one turkey burger that I promise no one will say is “dry”.

“So, Raven what did you have WITH your turkey burger?”

Ahhh yes, the lovely side dishes. The side dishes for me when it comes to burgers have to be simple. I don’t want anything too fancy and I don’t want anything that I need to cut. It is easier just to be able to have a fork in one hand and a burger half in the other haha…I have it down to a science 😉

I thought that roasting small potatoes would be a good addition to my meal. Super easy side dish too! All you have to do is cut them and put them in the oven and and they are basically on auto pilot for as long as you need them to be.

Ingredients for Potatoes:

  • Potatoes, cut into quarters
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • seasoning salt

Preheat your oven to 350º

Use a glass baking pan and place potatoes that have been chopped into quarters, or smaller. Season with salt, pepper, and seasoning salt.

Lightly drizzle olive oil on potatoes and place into oven.

They can take anywhere from 35-55 minutes to cook. Stir them about every 10-15 minutes to make sure they don’t stick to the pan once the oil starts to cook off.

Take them out when they are golden brown…

Want to see the final meal? OF COURSE YOU DO!

Now the broccoli salad is something that I just adore and is a recipe that I am hoping I one day might inherit. It is cooked broccoli with lemon and garlic and it is to die for! Anyways, that was my finished meal. It was fantastic! I don’t mean to brag, but kudos to RavieNomNoms!

Hope you all have a great start to your week before Christmas!!
