Food

Momma knows best…

My mother is a great cook! She taught me most of what I know about food. So whenever she makes something…I am always one of the first people at the table to be the guinea pig. 🙂

She has a very beautiful garden and always uses her fresh vegetables and herbs to cook (which is where I learned it). Literally she is one of those people who has a garden that should be in a magazine…check it out:

I mean how much more gorgeous can she make this garden?! She is incredible…

I enjoy spending time with my parents…most of the time 😉 I was visiting with my parents on Friday night for some appetizers and cocktails and here is what we had…

Boulevard Brewing Co. is a brewery in Kansas City, Missouri and honestly has some of the best unfiltered wheat beers I have ever tried…

This particular beer “Tank” was a gift from my brother to my dad. This is an unfiltered wheat beer with a summery yellow haze color. It almost has a citrus smell and taste is brisk and spicy, has notes of pulpy fruit, orange, lemon, pomegranate, and pineapple. (aka delicious)

So since my mother has this incredibly large garden she has so many vegetables to cook with most of the time. This time however it was “get rid of the zucchini” night. She made baked zucchini sticks with a horseradish sauce (and bar-be-que sauce for my picky dad haha).

Zucchini Ingredients:

  • 3  large zucchini (about 1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1  cup  dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/2  cup  panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
  • 1/2  teaspoon  salt
  • 1/2  teaspoon  freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2  cup  egg substitute
  • Cooking spray
  • This recipe can be found at CookingLight.com just click on one of the above Zucchini pictures and it will take you there!

Great night with the family and always good food : )
