    Calzones & Dance

I have great news! I auditioned for a professional dance company in Longmeadow, Mass and they want me to dance with them! AHHH! So excited! I have been a dancer since I was 2 years old and ever since I graduated from college it has been hard to find a modern dance company. I am so happy to be dancing again, I have missed it so much! The only bad part is that the rehearsals are 9:30pm on Mondays (sometimes Sunday) nights. Phew! Makes for a long evening….I normally don’t get home until just before midnight. Getting home so late last night has made me a little groggy this morning…and…

    Dinner with Mom & Dad

Sheesh what a week this has been already! Busy busy! I woke up this morning to the pitter patter of rain on my windows and I just did NOT want to get out of bed. It has been a stressful week at work which made we want to stay in bed even more, haha. One of my co-workers retired last week and that has made for some additional work on my plate. I am hoping that things will even out in the coming months, but for now it does not seem to be slowing down. This past weekend I spent some time with my parents and of course you know…

    Sesame Chicken

Another weekend has come and gone. It is amazing to me how quickly my weekends seem to pass the older I get. I was just having a conversation with my good friend Tamara about how I miss being younger and having life be a bit simpler. I miss the days when someone read a fairytale and then I was given a small carton of milk before my afternoon nap. Those were the days! I feel like anything I can do to make my life more simple is always a good thing. THAT is why I wanted to share this recipe with you. I was given a lot of cookbooks a…

    The Big E

The Eastern States Exposition! Also known as The Big E. This is a fair that is put together every year for about 3-1/2 weeks in West Springfield, Massachusetts. They have everything you could possibly think of at the Big E…food, beer, crafts, shopping, rides, shows and entertainment, animals, and my personal favorite the State Buildings. If you click on the picture above it will take you to the website so you can see all the different attractions they have. I mainly wanted to share the food with you because, well…this IS a food blog haha ;-). Like any usual fair there was of course the carnival food, the fried Oreos,…

    CT Wine Trail

I had an absolutely fabulous weekend! The weather was gorgeous, I was celebrating my 2 year anniversary with my bf (9/11), my best friend turned 25 (Happy Birthday Chrissy!!), AND I went on the Connecticut Wine Trail. I didn’t want the weekend to end at all!!! We have had such HOT weather this summer that it was so nice to have a mild sunny day. I couldn’t have asked for a better day if I tried. Here is the Wine Trail below: If you click on it, it will take you to the website. The Wineries that my bf and I visited were the following: Hopkins Vineyard, New Preston CT…

    BBQ!

Can you believe that August is almost over?! I can’t!! This summer has absolutely FLOWN by me. I can’t believe that kids (in general, not my own haha) are going back to school and that in a few weeks the leaves will be changing on the trees! I love Fall though! I love, love, love it! I love the leaves and the cooler weather but not cold weather. We get some pretty cold winters here in the Northeast. I really think that I love Fall so much because of the feeling I get around that time of year. When I was younger, I was always getting ready to go back…

OHMYGOSH! People are coming over and I had no idea! WHAT DO I HAVE IN THE FRIDGE?! Ok, ok, ok….think. (ever had one of these moments??? I did just recently. I had no idea that people were coming over for dinner and fun because sommeeonneee had invited people over…which wasn’t a problem because I love the people he invited, BUT I was SOOOO not prepared to feed them!!) Hmmmmmmmmm, I gotta give them some kind of an appetizer….ok, vegetables and dip will just have to do. Ok, what else do I got here…I have some sourdough bread, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, ground sirloin…I GOT IT! Patty melts!…

To dine or Not to dine

I have to admit…sometimes it is nice to dine out! I swear sometimes even a mediocre meal can be fabulous when you dine out, JUST because you aren’t the one making it, hehe ;-). Honestly, I have been blessed in my dining experiences…I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I was less than satisfied with a meal I had out on the town. So, I can’t complain. Just recently I went to a restaurant in Cape Cod (Provincetown) that was really good AND had a really nice dining setting. It was called Pepe’s Wharf Restaurant and had a really nice menu (and by nice – I…

    Family, Friends, & Fabulous Food

I love cooking for people. I don’t think there is anything better than when you have people you love around you enjoying a great meal. My parents hosted a get together for some close family friends who came to visit from PA. Our visitors used to be our neighbors when we lived in PA. When I was a teenager, I babysat their children (2 boys) for spending money in high school (and middle school too I believe). Let me tell you, there is nothing in the world that will make you feel older than seeing someone you used to change diapers for be, I don’t know, give or take, a…

    Momma knows best…

My mother is a great cook! She taught me most of what I know about food. So whenever she makes something…I am always one of the first people at the table to be the guinea pig. 🙂 She has a very beautiful garden and always uses her fresh vegetables and herbs to cook (which is where I learned it). Literally she is one of those people who has a garden that should be in a magazine…check it out:          I mean how much more gorgeous can she make this garden?! She is incredible… I enjoy spending time with my parents…most of the time 😉 I was visiting with…

    Garden Fresh…

On top of everything else I do…I enjoy working out. I really try my hardest to work out 3 times a week (on top of playing softball in an adult league, which I do 2 times a week). So, a lot of times I really would rather just go to the gym right from work…that way I don’t get settled at home and then not go at all! haha 😉 Anyways, so after my intense cardio session this evening I came home wanting something light. Then remembered…”hey! I have a ton of fresh veggies in my garden!”….BINGO! I made a salad this evening with all fresh ingredients right from my…
