SNOW

I am guessing by now that most of you have heard that the Northeast was hit with a rather large and snowstorm this past weekend. The entire state of CT is pretty much without power. Somewhere like 700,000 people without power right now, including myself. Have been without power since Saturday night now. Going on 4 days…

There are businesses and homes without power all throughout the Northeast. My office does not even have power. It is crazy to see so many places without still. All of the black boxes indicate areas where there is 81-100% power outage. Which is right where I live and work.

The only reason I am able to write this post right now is because my office has another building which they have everyone setting up shop at. Which I think is rather silly. Getting to work with all of the trees and power lines that are down is just dangerous.

Not to mention that there are SO many people in search of gasoline right now for their cars and their generators. My family and I sat in line for over an hour and a half waiting to get gas a station and when we finally got up to first in line the station ran out of gas. People were screaming at each other and cutting in line. It was like survival of the fittest. We were lucky to find gasoline about 15 miles away from that place, but since it has been hard to find supplies. Food, gas, power cords, etc. I am lucky that I have a house to try and stay warm in.

I am lucky to have family and friends who are safe and I am very lucky to have a very smart Daddy that knows how to hook up a generator so we can a least have heat in the house. Anyone trying to reach me on my cell, I don’t have any service. Very limited service because of cell towers being damaged. I don’t have access to a computer, besides right now because I am at work to let you all know I am ok.

I am hoping you all are having a great week so far and please send your prayers and best wishes to the Northeast. Most towns are not expecting power back until at least next week…

I have tons of recipes to share with you all but it will have to wait until my situation improves just a tad, hehe. Missing you all!! 🙂

You poor thing! I hope it all “warms” soon and they get the powered turned on for everyone. I have friends in Boston and they got hit badly too. My friend has a 1 week old baby and they didn’t have power or water. What a freak storm in October! I have never seen snow this early! Well take care of yourself and thank goodness for a smart father!! Be warm and safe!!!~ Ramona

oooh, ouch! It’s too early for snow and power outages! Stay warm with lots of soup — are you cooking on the barbecue? On our little island, we suffer long power outages throughout the winter — we cook a lot on the wood stove…very Laura Ingalls Wilder 😉 Theresa

Glad you are staying warm and I hope the power comes back on soon. It is understandable that the situation has everyone on edge. I know I sometimes get a little nervous when they talk of an incoming storm and our local grocers shelves look a little ransacked and empty. You and your family stay safe!

Scary weather, keep safe, warm wishes to all over the air waves. The unexpected shows how fragile things can be but also who your true friends are. Look forward to good news and defrosting.

Oh no, stay inside and stay safe, hope the storm passes soon. I guess we are lucky on this side of the country, we’ve had really nice weather. Hope you guys have a stash of groceries in the pantry. Thanks for your sweet comment, I appreciate it. Let us know how things go.

Please be careful. That really makes me sad that people are treating each other that way. I had not heard it was that bad and I am bad about watching the news every day. 🙁 I need to work on that.

    I hope you stay ok.

Oh may, I didn’t know it was that bad. I can’t imagine how things would be without electricity and such. But I’m glad you and your family are well. Take care and we’ll see you when things are back to normal.

Really illuminating to have a first-hand account from a heavily-affected area, thank you. Praying for power restoration asap! My daughter moved to New Hampshire a month ago. When I called her, she was outside making snow angels! 🙂 Be safe, stay warm and well!

We got a bit of snow down here (DE/MD) but went into PA the other day and were shocked to see how much they got just a little bit north of us! This one really took everyone by surprise. I hope everything has evened out for you by now and that things are getting better!
