Oatmeal with Fruit Compote
I am back! First off, when I woke up this morning it felt like it was 3am. That was not fun haha. I found that going out to California I really adjusted well to the time difference, but the coming back to CT? The time change is being quite a pain. I thought that I would be able to adjust just as easily…not so much. π
The weather in California was so glorious…I cannot even tell you how great of a break it was to have some actual sunshine that had warmth to it. It was in the high 60s, low 70s the whole time I was in California and it was SO nice! I came back to CT and guess what it is doing today? Snowing. Yeup, that’s right. Snowing! haha….I do love my snow, however seeing as how I was just able to wear flip flops for consecutive days and now I am back to snow boots?! I am not a happy camper. Don’t get me wrong, I love snow! More than the normal human I think, but now that I have had a taste of Spring…I am SO ready for it!
The wedding that I went to in California was absolutely stunning. The venue was amazing! It was at a country club named La Canada Flintridge. The actual ceremony was held outside overlooking the mountains and Los Angeles. Which was truly a sight to see.
The reception was held in the country club and it was just gorgeous how they had everything set up! Truly everything was just so beautiful. Including the bride. Shelley looked amazing! Brides always make me so happy because they look so carefree and just…content. Shelley was no exception. I even found myself tearing up just looking at her. (side note: I have to thank Shelley for throwing the bouquet RIGHT to me haha…thanks for that extra little nudge π )
Congrats to Dan and Shelley! Your wedding was a blast! π
Of course going to California there was only a few things on my mind. Wedding, Shopping, and FOOD! hehe as always. All the food that I had while I was in California was really good, aside from a little Mexican place I stopped at. I was SO disappointed in the food there. I mean their Guacamole was the consistency of ketchup. Gross!
I think the best meal I had was at a bakery/cafe on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena called Euro Pane Bakery. And if you can even believe it…it was breakfast! I got myself a bowl of oatmeal with flax seed and fruit compote, which came with blueberries, a strawberry, white raisins, and brown sugar. I also got myself a lemon poppyseed muffin and a coffee. Let me tell you…THAT was quite a breakfast…
I was really good about eating breakfast every morning because I walked around ALL the time while I was in California. I figured why not live it up a little huh?
The oatmeal had such a creamy texture and the fruit compote in it was tart and sweet and really delicious. Not to mention the blueberries and raisins I put in the oatmeal along with the brown sugar topping. The muffin was crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Just the absolute perfect start to my day.
Now, I am back to the normal daily grind. While that upsets me just a little…I am glad to be home and glad to be able to go back to my normal eating habits…man o man, my belly was full the entire time I was in Cali hehe.
Happy Monday Everyone!

Sounds like such a wonderful trip!! I’m so glad that the weather cooperated for you and for their wedding. We had some lovely spring days, however it’s pouring now with strong wind and I’m not a happy camper either.
We checked out your dance company and Liv wants to know if you are in any of the pics??
She was talking about her “friend on Broadway” to the girls at the competition this weekend, a few of them have Broadway aspirations and were quite impressed!!

I am too Kim! We were worried that the weather might not hold out for us, but it did thankfully. I keep hearing that the weather is awful now, so I am glad I was able to enjoy the weather without any hitches while I was there.
I posted on your blog as well, but since I just started dancing with the company in maybe the past 5/6 months there haven’t been pictures taken with me in them. We have a show coming up though and I am sure there will be something to share! π Liv is too cute…I am glad that I can be her “friend on Broadway” hehe.
