Pinwheel Cookies
OK so I have been totally MIA lately. BUT there is a good reason for it. Well kinda…haha
The place I work has been going through a new system called SAP.
OH.MY.GOSH.
I had no idea how much this would absolutely stop work in its tracks but has it ever. I mean I literally spend all day spinning my tires on one simple thing. It is amazing to me!
The problem is the place I work we are soooo very centered on doing A LOT of transactions in a month and we can’t do that much volume anymore with this new system.
Really making things stressful and hard to complete what used to take me no time at all.
Anyways, on a better note…guess what Patrick and I did??
We made an offer on a house and the seller accepted it!! 😀
Not the one that I had told you about originally that needed A TON of work. That one kind of fell through and I am glad because I love this one that we found!
Which means that we may be the proud owners of this pretty house by June 5th 2012. 😀
Can you tell that I am excited?? I keep smiling.
We got really lucky on this place. It is close to the only family we have here in CT (my parents). So that is good because I am sure being first time home buyers we will want their help and advice.
Also, this house was empty because the family relocated. We went in with a lower bid and asked them to pay for all the closing costs. We put the offer in on Saturday and figured we would probably hear sometime on Monday morning about the counter. I mean what seller wants to pay ALL the closing costs right?!
Well, we got a call from our agent and she said, “in all my years I have never had a seller not counter an offer. Congrats, they accepted!”
Whoa! Are you serious?!
The house is so cute and it has such great potential and I have no doubt that Patrick and I will be able to do great things with it.
Here is the link for anything who wants to check it out: New House!
I have a cookie recipe that I have been holding onto for a couple weeks now. I made these around Easter and then everything started getting really busy so I wasn’t able to post but now I am now!
Ingredients for Sugar Cookies:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg white
- Cooking spray
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a bowl, and set aside. Beat butter at medium speed of a mixer until light and fluffy.
Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of a mixer until well-blended. Add vanilla and egg white, and beat well. Add flour mixture, and stir until well-blended.
Split your dough into 3 sections (I was able to do this by doubling the recipe). Then color your 2 doughs with the colors you want and leave the 3rd the natural color of the dough.
I picked purple and yellow.
Turn dough out onto wax paper and then wrap with plastic and put it in the fridge for about 2 hours or more.
Take each color of dough and roll it out until it is about 1/4″ thick. Stack the dough on top one another and then cut the edges off so that you have a nice rectangle of dough.
Start to roll the dough on itself so you start to create a log of dough. You will be able to see the fun pinwheel design as you do this.
If you want you can roll the log in sprinkles after you are done. I thought it would add a cute touch so I did this and then wrapped it up in plastic and let it sit in the refrigerator for another 2 hours.
When you are ready to bake your cookies, Preheat oven to 350°.
Slice the log into thin slices and place the cookies onto a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake the cookies for about 14 minutes and then let cool on a wire rack.
These were so much easier than I had originally thought they would be. My mom gave me this cool book teaching you how to do all sorts of cool designs. I cannot wait to try to make some of them.
I promise I will try not to go away for as long again. I miss you all! Hope you are having a fantastic week!

I don’t know what’s more exciting… the goregeous pinwheel cookies or you new house!! I am so happy for you… the house is stunning. It’s like the picturesque “white picket” fence kind of house!! I hope everything goes smoothly in the buying and moving process! Really fantastic news!! PS.. please go grab a Versatile Blogger award from my blog post dated 4-16… you deserve one. 🙂
RavieNomNoms
Oh thank you 😀
Ramona
I just went and checked out the house online.. it’s delightful!! Didn’t you say it had a lot of repairs to be done in a previous post!! I think it’s goregous as is and the kitchen looks perfect to cook in and with lots of light…. for food photography! Now I’m jealous. 🙂
RavieNomNoms
AH! You are quick Ramona!! This is actually a different house from the one I originally told you about in the other post. I will make sure and say that so others know too. You are on top of it girlie!!

RavieNomNoms
Thank you so much!!!
Tina@flourtrader
Ravie you are one smart cookie! The cost to insure a dormat house is outrageous, so I am that may be why the selling agreed to the closing costs. Congrats, I know you are bubbling with excitement!
Your sugar cookies are very eye catching. I love the choice of colors! My dad loves these, so I am saving this recipe. Now I am going to snoop into that link for your house!
RavieNomNoms
Thanks so much Tina! Yea I can imagine that just having it sit was certainly not what this seller wanted to do. I am just glad it ended up being in Patrick and my benefit! 🙂
Tina@flourtrader
PS-He loves sugar cookies, he has never had these great looking swirl ones!

First thing first, congrats on your new house. It’s so pretty! And the kitchen, oh my, it’s gorgeous and roomy! I’m so happy for you (and a little bit jealous because my kitchen is not nearly as nice as yours *grin*).
Secondly, how did you get your cookies to be so perfectly round like that? Love them!
RavieNomNoms
Thank you so much Priscilla! I am really excited about the house. I think we will change the kitchen just a bit but the part about it being bigger is my favorite. I mean really, it is where I spend all my time!!
Honestly, I have no idea how I got them that round. I just turned them often in the fridge to try and not get a flat spot hehe
Anita @ Hungry Couple
The house is lovely and CT is so beautiful. Brian and I have talked about heading out there at some point. We’ll see. The cookies are beautiful, too. Big bucks from a local bakery for those babies! Congratulations and enjoy!
RavieNomNoms
Haha I dunno about the big bucks but I wouldn’t mind having my own bakery. 🙂
You should come to CT, lots of nice things to see. Mass too!

Oh my goodness!!! That house is awesome!! So much more land than we have out here, and looking at the photos it looks like it has lots of light (I love light). I’m so excited for you guys. Congratulations, and welcome to home ownership! Are those fruit trees of some sort in the front?
RavieNomNoms
Thanks so much! That is one of the reasons why I love it is because of all the light! Soooo nice.
I think they are just dogwoods, but I didn’t get a great look at the trees. Its possible!
Choc Chip Uru
