Magic Soup
It’s Thursday! Woohoo! And everyone I know is sick, booo ๐ …I actually feel a little sick myself, icky! I hate being sick, I mean I am sure that no one really enjoys being sick. Besides the fact that you get to stay home and watch the Price is Right like I used to when I stayed home from school haha. Now, it’s just Regis and Kelly or Soaps (little fun fact – when I was younger my mom used to watch Days of Our Lives…she ran a daycare so when all the babies were taking their naps, my mom and I used to watch what Hope and Bo were doing haha).
Btdubs, it is almost Halloween!! I love Peanuts, by the way. One of my most favorite cartoons of all time. I collect Peanuts items, don’t hate me haha. I’m not a hoarder or anything! I think I may actually carve a pumpkin with a Peanuts sketch this year. Whenever Christmas comes around I’ll show you how I decorate one of my trees, yes ONE of my trees. hehe…anyway, I am getting off track here. On another note, I just wanted to share with you someone who has just recently joined the blogging community. I actually used to work with him and he is one of my good friends. Check out Nick’s blog at Man Food Blog. He is trying to help out single guys in Boston, or anywhere really, like himself not be afraid to cook…which I just think is fantastic! I have never actually eaten his food but I do know that he has a wicked pissah accent (wOOt!), so at least you will get some entertainment out of reading his blog. ๐
ALSO, I need to answer some questions that Kate is Cooking tagged me in. I love this game! haha, I am sure by now that you have all seen how this works. You answer the 8 questions that were tagged to you. You then create 8 more questions and tag 8 people to answer them. Again, no one has to feel obligated to answer, but it is a good way to get to know your fellow bloggers. Please feel free to participate even if you aren’t tagged!
Kate’s Questions:
1.ย What is your favorite food? My favorite food is carrots, hands down…no questions…and no exceptions.
2. If you could star in a foodtv show, what would it be about? Oh my goodness what a great question! I would want to travel around the world trying different kinds of cuisines and then try to recreate them in my own kitchen in my own way. How much fun would that be?!
3. What is your favorite season and why? Fall. I love how the weather gets just a little colder and the leaves start to change…there is something comforting to me about the cold weather and warm fire. Not to mention I feel like some of the best comfort foods start popping back up in the Fall. Yummm.
4. If you could save one thing from your kitchen, what would it be? Hmmm, I only get one thing? Sheesh ok ok ok. Um, I would have to go with my knives. Is that considered one thing? hehe
5. What is the one place you’ve not visited that you’d most like to visit? Ireland. End of story.
6. What and where was your most memorable meal? Wow, most memorable huh? This is going to sound so funny…I am from the Midwest and they have Sonic out there, I know it is fast food and awful for you haha. Well when I moved to Pennsylvania they didn’t have them there. Bummer. They finally put one in, but it was like an hour away from where I lived. Bummer again. I moved to CT, still no Sonic. ๐ …My best friend from like 1st grade gets married in Arkansas, long story haha. I get to Arkansas and on the way to where the hotel was..EUREKA! A SONIC! So, naturally I stopped. I got my favorite. Tater tots and a Chocolate shake. Dipped them tots in the shake and man, was I in heaven!
7. How many places have you lived and which was your favorite? I have lived in 3 places. Kansas, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Connecticut has been my favorite thus far but I am only 3 years in ๐
8. What got you to start blogging? One of the girls that I went to college with, Krista see her blog at Kristastes , she has the most outstanding blog and I loved it so much that I thought I would try to follow in her foot steps.
My Questions:
1. What was your favorite part of this week?
2. What do you like to do when you are sick?
3. What are you or your kids going to be for Halloween?
4. What is your favorite Holiday? and why?
5. What cookbook do you use more than any other?
6. Are you a coffee or tea drinker?
7. If you had to choose one style of food to eat for a month, what would it be? (ie: Italian, Mexican..)
8. What got you to start blogging? (I am going to steal this one from Kate)

OK, now back to why I originally was going to post today. Magic get better soup! This is a super simple soup that even if you are sick it is so easy and so good.
Ingredients:
- Chicken Broth
- Celery
- Stelline Pasta (tiny little stars)
- Salt
- Pepper
I intentionally did not put any measurements. It really depends on how much soup you want to have left over. I used about 1 cup of broth, 2 celery sticks, and a 1/2 cup of pasta. In a small pot, place your chicken broth. Bring to a boil. Chop up your celery, salt and pepper it before you put it in the broth. Place into the broth and cook until the celery becomes bright green. Put your Stelline Pasta into the pot and cook for about 5-6 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste….and now you have a simple soup that I guarantee will make you feel better!
Hope you are all having a fabulous Thursday!

Add a couple of finely minced cloves of garlic, and you’ve got a dynamite immune-system booster. This soup makes me think of being sick as a kid and only wanting Campbell’s Chicken and Stars soup. Yum!
RavieNomNoms
You know, I actually thought about putting some garlic in there when I was making it!
Roxan
Ooo, fun! I’m going to try to update later today and I will respond to your tag! ๐
Sorry you are feeling a tad under the weather, I was feeling like that last week too but it went away pretty quickly ๐
Magic of Spice

Classic comfort food, and kids love the little stars ๐
Tater tots and a Chocolate shake…Oh my ๐
RavieNomNoms
Yes the Tots and shake have been one of my weaknesses for a long time, I am pretty sure my bf has a picture of me eating them 2 years ago with the silliest grin on my face haha

Love, love, love soup – as soon as the first frost hits (it hasn’t hit yet), the soup pot comes out (but I brought the soup pot out anyway) and stays out until May. I would love to say “presto magic” and have your soup appear on my table.

Looks like a perfect soup for when you are sick!

Nice post and answers. That does look like a simple soup with magic cure. I wish I tried this last week when I was really sick.
RavieNomNoms
Sorry to hear you were sick, at least now you know what you will make for the next time you get sick..which hopefully isn’t any time soon! ๐

The healing powers of soup! It’s amazing how much better you can feel after a nice bowl of soup. Love the stars! By the way, I like the idea of doing a Peanuts theamed pumpkin carving–I think that sounds really cute.

Regis and Kelly always make a sick day better. I’m going to respond to your tag soon. The soup looks like it would clear any congestion.

I love the little pasta stars! I could have used that soup a couple weeks when I was a little under the weather. Thanks for a great game of Tag, its always nice to learn more about our friends!

Hi Raven,
Thank you so much for including me in your list:) Sorry I am just now responding, it’s been crazy here lately. I posted the answers today.
The soup looks delicious. My Mom also made use a star pasta soup when we were kids. Hers was different, and I really like the look of yours too. Your soup brought back nice memories. I should make some even if I’m not sick.
