Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in NYC
Are you ready for this post my fellow foodies? I was invited to attend the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party presented by Southern Living, Cooking Light, MyRecipes and RealSimple. It took place in NYC on June 8th & 9th in Madison Square Park. It was the 11th annual block party and it was so much fun! There were cooking classes, live performances, vendor tents with tools and foods, live demonstrations of cooking and cocktail ideas, and best of all BBQ all day long! I honestly had never heard of this event before, but I am so glad I have now. It is only about 2 hours from where I live…

Poppy Seed Roll (Makowiec)
Happy Holidays my dears!! Can you believe that Christmas is only 5 days away?! I am so unprepared this year. I am normally SO good about making lists and being overly prepared, but my needed break from things has made me a tad late with planning. Plus this year just seems odd to me. Doesn’t it to you? I just don’t feel like it should be Christmas yet. Perhaps it was because of the placement of Thanksgiving this year. Or perhaps I have just lost my marbles. I am proud to say that I am participating in Abeer’s Christmas Extravaganza this year! If you have never been over to Abeer’s…

Maple Glazed Cinnamon Rolls
Are there certain things that your family only have around the holidays? Ever since I can remember, there would be piping hot cinnamon rolls waking me up on Christmas Morning. That smell of a fresh pastry right out of the oven sure does know how to get me out of bed. It is a tradition that my family has had ever since I can remember. Even now that I am in my late twenties, there is just nothing like that smell when you wake up on Christmas morning at your folks house, or when you walk in the door from your own home and you smell those amazing rolls. Yummm….my…

A Post For My Foodies
Dear Fellow Foodie Friends, This is a letter for all lovers of food, food bloggers, and foodies alike. Thank you! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your amazing features, adventures and recipes that you share with the blogging world everyday. My life would certainly not be the same without you. There is so much buzz (no pun intended 😉 ) about whether or not we food bloggers are taking value away from the food industry. Whether or not we are making a laughing stock of what it is to be a food writer. Let me tell you something… I believe that each and every…

Sur La Table Cooking Class
As promised, here is the post about the class that I took at Sur La Table. It was called Date Night: Cozy French Dinner, and here is what was on the menu: Thyme and Gruyere Gougeres Frisee and Apple Salad with Dijon-Honey Vinaigrette Coq a Vin with Wild Mushrooms Chocolate Pots de Crème with Walnut Praline This meal was designed to be a rustic hearty meal. It definitely was! From the moist and crisp gougeres to the tart salad and the savory coq a vin…it was an all around stellar meal. I will definitely be making some of these recipes again. Although I would change some of them around just…

Traditional Fall Treat
I don’t know about you but when I was little one of the things that I REALLY looked forward to during the Fall was caramel apples. I remember coming home from school when my mom had made them fresh and it was like the best surprise in the world. Grabbing one of those gooey treats and biting into was just Fall to me. The real trick was trying not to get it all over myself. Somehow I always managed to get caramel in my hair…haha, sorry Mom. Although, I have to admit that kids with sticky fingers is one of the cutest things ever. They have no idea what to…

Great Food for Great Friends
Saturday of this past weekend was a fun day…I invited over some good friends and we had a great time eating, drinking, and just socializing. Once I knew that people were going to be coming over I decided I wanted to do something a little different for dinner than what I normally do. It is always great to break from the mold :-). I know a lot of people who tend to try and stick to what they know when they have guests coming over because normally, that makes for a guaranteed good meal. ::raises right hand:: I am very guilty of this! However, this time I wanted to step…

Christmas
Can you believe it? Another Christmas has come and gone…I can hardly believe it. It is like when you spend all day making Thanksgiving dinner and then everyone sits down and dinner is over in like half an hour. My Christmas was full of fun, friends, family, and food! How did I manage to find four words that started with F…ahh Four…ok I’m done haha. You know what the best part of my Christmas was?? IT SNOWED!!!! You should have seen me, and anyone who is my Facebook friend did, I was like a 4 year old when that snow started to fall as hard as it did! Seriously, you…

Nachos and a Present for Ravie!
Oh my goodness…Oh my goodness…Oh my goodness!! I cannot even tell you how very excited I am at this moment! So…. I decided on my way in from work this morning that I was going to do what I have wanted to do for a very VERY long time. Buy myself a digital SLR camera. I have always loved taking pictures! I mean even back in high school I took a photography class and I had a SLR that I used for that and I just loved it. I am one of those people who is constantly taking pictures of just about everything. It tends to annoying the sh*t 😉…
