Hoisin Beef
Ahhh the warm California air is so glorious! So what am I doing blogging right?? Well, I had this post saved so that I could post it while I was away because I did promise you all another recipe from my Great Food for Great Friends post. Here is the last recipe from the night of cooking with my friends. The recipe is for Hoisin Beef skewers. I wanted to make something that was easy for my guests to eat AND enjoy. That is why I decided to skewer the beef. The original recipe was for beef tenderloin steaks but this was a little less formal and more keeping with…

Baked Salmon Eggrolls
As promised folks, this is the first post of me “recipes to come…” list from my Great Food for Great Friends post. I can hardly sit still right now because I am getting so excited for my California trip. I leave tomorrow at 4:30pm. It is getting so close! The only bad part is that means that I won’t be posting anything for a while on my blog :-(. BUT, you better bet (“You better you better you bet, oooo-ooo” – The Who) that I will have lots of pictures and stories to share when I get back! Anyways, this recipe is Priscilla’s Baked Salmon Eggrolls that I saw on…

Great Food for Great Friends
Saturday of this past weekend was a fun day…I invited over some good friends and we had a great time eating, drinking, and just socializing. Once I knew that people were going to be coming over I decided I wanted to do something a little different for dinner than what I normally do. It is always great to break from the mold :-). I know a lot of people who tend to try and stick to what they know when they have guests coming over because normally, that makes for a guaranteed good meal. ::raises right hand:: I am very guilty of this! However, this time I wanted to step…

Oat-topped Fig Muffins
Hello, hello! I have less than 3 days until I got to California! I cannot tell you how excited I am. It is going to be so nice to get a break from the normal and have a mini vacation. I am definitely counting down the days! OH and a side note, thank you to all of you who donated this weekend for my cancer walk in July…you all have been so generous and I am so grateful to have each and every one of you in my life. Your support is so amazing! This weekend was kind of hectic but not in bad way. I had a dinner/get together…

Bourbon Marinated Flank Steak
I am so excited! I have raised $360 so far for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure walk! According to my site I am 16% done with my goal ($2,300) only 2 weeks in. I am so overwhelmed with how generous people are being, even some of you fellow bloggers out there have donated for me. I cannot thank you enough for all your support!! It is an amazing cause and I really hope that I get to walk in it this summer. If you haven’t checked it out, see what it is all about by visiting my site here —> Help Raven Walk for the Cure! As…

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes
Happy Mardi Gras everyone! I have to say I don’t have any exciting Mardi Gras recipes to share. I have been seeing all sorts of awesome King Cake recipes, that just look delicious! I do however have my beads on today at work! Welcome to my small little cube that I work in everyday…hehe, don’t laugh…you gotta have fun a little even when you are at work! 🙂 Or at least I try to, otherwise I would absolutely go crazy! I am a little bit of a dork and I like to say and do silly things. While I have to try and control that a little in the office…

Nutella Brownies
Good Monday Morning to you all! I hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend was rather rainy so I spent most of my time cooking and cleaning. I actually don’t mind that either! I am a rather clean person, some might say a neat freak. I however just like to call it organized, haha. I do tend to have a little OCD with certain things. For example, I am a “clean as you go” kind girl. My mother taught me this motto when I was younger as I would watch her bake the most delicious cookies and cakes. As she balanced a bowl and pan in both hands…

Almond Crusted Chicken
Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your start to your week. We have been having a slight glimpse into spring here in Connecticut, but it appears that it is going to change back to rather bitter cold by tomorrow :-(. As you all know I love snow and the cold, but there comes a time right around March that my body flips a switch and says “OK, I am done, ready for some warm weather and flip flops now!”. I really don’t think I could live in a place where the seasons don’t change, I think I would go through withdrawal. I enjoy having that switch of cold…

Nutella Banana Turnovers
I made it! 14 days on the detox and I made it. WHEW! What an experience that was! Thanks again to all of you out there that supported me the whole time. It was so very much appreciated, I cannot even express my gratitude. Although the detox is over there are some things that I learned from it that I really feel like I am going to keep with me. The eating small meals every few hours I think I am going to stick with. That really helped my body stay alert and full of energy, which I really liked. Another thing I want to keep doing is eating breakfast!…

Coming down to the wire…
Yesterday I had one of my favorite suppliers for work come visit from Chicoutimi, Canada. Marc has been one of the people that I have really become friends with since I started with the company almost 3 years ago. He speaks French and has a very European “way” about him, which I really enjoy. I always love to talk to people who are from different places. I went to visit him in 2009 in Canada and it was such an experience. It was literally as far North as you can possibly get in Canada. A whopping 10 hour drive from where I work in Connecticut, but well worth the trip!…

Pretty Pepper Pasta
First off, congrats to CakeWhiz on the Top 9 with my recipe for water cake! I have to give thanks because I got a lot of traffic on my blog yesterday because of that. So a big thanks for featuring my recipe and another congrats for making it look so awesome! 😀 To all of you hummus haters out there…I don’t get you. I really don’t. I love hummus! Put it on a pita, put it on veggies, put it on chips, use it as spread for a sandwich….I lik’em all! Since I have been on the detox my snack in the afternoon is some veggies with hummus (which is…

Stuffed Peppers
Hello all! I am on Day 8 of the detox! I am trusting you are having a grand start to your week. Mine was not so grand, I have to admit. Work has been less than desirable for the past 2 days. Lots of issues and stress that has been really keeping me very very busy. I wanted to update you all on my progress! So far so good! We are still going strong and it is Day 8. I can’t believe that things are still going so well but they are. This weekend was very hard for me. I am used to baking on Saturday. That is normally my…
