Polka Dot Fudgy Brownies
So apparently I never posted this recipe!
No idea why, but I think it is worthy of getting posted that is for sure.
I have to say that brownies are probably one of my favorite goodies. Something about those ooey gooey chocolate squares just make my heart melt.
Which can be a problem…
Like most women, I want to have those ooey gooey brownies, but I don’t want to go up a pant size.
Not to mention it is Lent right now and I am still on my no sweets diet…for at least another couple weeks haha
All of you know my quest to be healthy, and you all know that I am always trying to find lower calorie things. Most of the time anyways.
I don’t always succeed, but the majority of the time I cook healthy things.
Sometimes you gotta splurge.
These brownies I am sharing today will make you feel like you are splurging without adding to your waist line.
What’s not to love?
Adapted from original recipe here.
Ingredients:
- 4.5 ounces all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup skim milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 large egg
- Cooking Spray
- 1/4 cup 60% Ghirardelli chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350Β°
Combine flour, cocoa and salt into a medium bowl and stir with a whisk. Place to the side.
Place butter and chocolate into a medium sized microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for about 45 seconds. Stir the mixture about every 15 seconds.
Stir the mixture until it is smooth and then set aside to cool slightly.
Add the sugar, milk, vanilla, egg yolks and egg together in a separate bowl and whisk together to combine. Add in the butter mixture to this.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
Pour batter into a 8″ square pan that has been coated with cooking spray.
Top with 1/4 cup chocolate chips in any design you like. Will add just an extra chocolatey bite to your brownies.
Bake for 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted to the center comes out mostly clean. (but if you are like me take out a few minutes early if you like gooey brownies)
These are simple and quick and any time you need a pick me up these will hit the spot.
Oh, and they are only 147 calories π

Is it still only 147 calories if I eat the whole pan?? π Love the polka dots!
RavieNomNoms
Haha, probably not the entire pan, but hey…what do I know?! π

I love brownies, too, and I like your recipe. Gee, I wish I had a piece or two right now. These would go well with wine, right? π
RavieNomNoms
Oh totally…what chocolate doesn’t go well with wine?

Sorry I’m late to the brownie party… I could seriously eat a big old brownie this morning (hope the kids don’t know that). π These really look perfect…rich, fudgy and totally satisfying my sweet tooth. π Hope you’re having a great weekend. π
RavieNomNoms
Thanks Ramona! I hope you had a lovely weekend! Nothing wrong with wanting a brownie in the morning. π

Is this 4.5 ounces of flour ? How do I measure that ?
RavieNomNoms
You would need a scale. However this is just over half a cup if you measure that way.
