Cheese Fritters
WE ARE…PENN STATE!! That’s right, the PSU season started yesterday 9/4. I bleed Blue & White and I have not missed a game since I started college back in 2003. While I was in school I attended every single football game my entire 4 years of school. I cannot make all the games now since I live in CT, but I try to make at least 2 games a season now, but I NEVER miss a game. I always watch PSU play when they have a game. I am a die-hard fan! 🙂
Whenever, PSU games are on that means there is going to be a lot of food. When I went to Penn State the tailgating was part of the game. The food, the beer, the people?? That is part of what makes Penn State, Penn State. So in tradition I always make a lot of food for the games and then eat and watch the game (and when I mean watch, I mean jumping up and down the couch cheering for the team haha).
This recipe that I am going to share with you is one of my bf’s favorites. He asks me to make it all the time, but this is another recipe that is not so good for you. So, I honestly do not make it very often. Considering it was the first game of Penn State’s season I thought I could make an exception 😉
I came across the idea to make these a few years back after going to a restaurant that had cheese fritters on a salad. It was a great idea to have the fritters on the salad because it gave the salad a crunch without having croutons. I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients for Cheese Fritters:
2-3 cups vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 teas. salt
2 teas. baking powder
1 egg
2/3 cup skim milk
3/4 cup cheddar and mozzarella cheese
*don’t get your oil too hot or the inside of the fritters will not cook completely*
Like I said, not one of my more healthy recipes but I promise you won’t regret taking a break from eating healthy for these babies. Serve with ranch dip, bbq sauce, marinara sauce…basically anything you have on hand.
OH, and by the way…PSU WON!! 😀

Those looks so good, but so fattening that I would only be able to make them once in a while. I Love fritters of all varieties!!

Can these be adapted for any team? They look great, anything that goes good with beer is OK with me!

We are thrilled that football season is here – well some of us are more thrilled than others 😉 My husband is already anticipating all the yummy football food and I may just have to add your cheese fritters to my repertoire – they look awesome!
