Fruit at Work
Every Wednesday we have this thing called “Ice Cream Day” at work. This is an event that was created by our administrative assistants where all the employees are invited to go and get ice cream for a couple bucks (in a cone or in a bowl) in the afternoon.Β I am not sure how many of you have ever been in an ‘office’ setting…especially a corporate office setting, but whenever there is food around in the office people DEVOUR it! I am not talking like once in a while snacking. You put anything out in the office and people are like vultures, haha π
Don’t get me wrong…I am a huge snacker! I am one of those people who needs to eat or drink something almost constantly or I will eat HUGE meals and that is just not good for you. I normally keep a bottle of Glaceau SmartWater by my side at work to try and keep my hunger down. If you have not heard of the SmartWater click on the picture below and it will take you there. It is a great water that comes in a great big bottle and is loaded with electrolytes but doesn’t have any funny taste. It is awesome! (not to mention, Jennifer Anniston is one of their promoters and let’s face it, she’s pretty to look at haha)
Anyways, what I am getting at here is that I don’t normally snack in the office. But if I do, it is always something that I have brought in for myself. This way I can control what I am eating and also I normally end up getting the things I really want, instead of the things that are just there. My neighbors at the office tell me that I have so much “self control” when it comes snacking. In reality, I really don’t…haha. I just do MUCH better with it at the office because I feel like I need to eat healthy while I am basically sitting alllllll day long.
So while everyone else was snacking on their cookie dough, strawberry, and chocolate ice creams topped with whipped cream…I was snacking on some yummy fruit. Check it out…
While it wasn’t cookies & cream ice cream…it still was pretty good! I would much rather snack on fruit or veggies in general anyways, but sometimes when you are in the office and everyone is eating ice cream it can be tough. So this is my success story of the day. Another day of self control in the office. π
Have a good Wednesday everyone!

There is something about free food that people just love. Even it’s not that good, people will still eat it. Which is why, like you, I always love bringing in my own fruit or veggies to snack on. Because they are both delicious and healthy!
the constant hunger
I think it’s great that you turn to a healthy alternative. Ice cream being my favorite thing to eat in the world, I would have a hard time.

Oh, believe me…I have a hard time too! I loooove ice cream! π

Good for you! I always bring a banana, grapes nuts or strawberries to work, it keeps me from going to the dreadful vending machines……

We always get junk at work bagels, doughnuts, pizza, ice cream, cake. A lot of people in our office are in bad health or overweight. I think it’s irresponsible they need to start giving us free healthy options!

How wonderful that you choose healthy snacks! I wish I was smarter when I was at the office – I used to much on animal crackers π

Oh smart water is a smart choice! I would never say no to free food so it’s so hard to control myself! watermelon makes you full too even for a little while and by then the free food would be gone π

How could you pass up ice cream day?
RavieNomNoms
haha, believe me it wasn’t easy! Like I said, sitting at this desk all day makes me feel like I need to “behave” myself during the week. I would eat ice cream everyday if my waistline would allow it! haha ;-P

I know exactly what you mean! Whenever I have any leftovers (or anything really) that I want to get rid of, I put them in our lunchroom at work. No matter how much I bring, it is gone in 20 minutes! It’s amazing, really.
I have healthy snacks at work, too, to try and avoid the not so great stuff that people leave!

I had to giggle when I read your post – I felt the same way when I was in an office setting! I home office currently, so the peer pressure aspect of ice cream days, bagels and birthday cake is gone (for the meantime). Keep the faith Ravienomnoms! Power to the fruit eaters!! π

I would prefer fruit to ice cream… I like ice cream, but never a HUGE fan…but seasonal fruit and lots of tea would be my favourites at work.
